Mr. James A. Moore

James A. Moore (Jay), 60, passed peacefully at home after an extended illness on 31 December 2020. Jay was born in Washington D.C. to Ruthann (nee Brooks) and James A. Moore, Sr. His family moved to the Chicago, Illinois area making him a life-long Cubs fan and then to Florida in the early 1970’s. Jay was a proud USMC veteran who served as a corrections officers at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas and in Okinawa, Japan. He worked on the SeaWorld Blimp and was a former marketing business owner. Jay was the ultimate Tampa Bay Buccaneer’s fan and looked forward to watching them in the playoffs and hopefully in the Super Bowl. He enjoyed watching and sharing his knowledge of all sports. Jay loved music of all kinds, bowling, dancing, and singing karaoke. One of his favorites to sing was Sail On. He will be immensely missed by his loving wife, Cheryl; faithful pups Jorgie and Bailey; daughter Ileia (Brian) Grooms of Grand Rapids, Michigan; stepson Tyler (Jayvee) Long of Cerritos, California; grandchildren Gabby, Brinley, Melody, Cassidy, and Kyle, all of Grand Rapids, as well as lots of family and friends. A private celebration of life will be held.
