Ms. Julia Rogers

June 19, 1924 - September 9, 2017

Mrs. Julia Rogers of Savannah Georgia departed this earth for her eternal home September 9th 2017 at the age of 93. She leaves behind a multitude of family and friends whose lives she touched and made eternally richer with her warm, generous and compassionate spirit. Mrs. Rogers was born June 19th, 1924 to Seth Jacob and Maggie Bradley Cleveland. She loved Savannah, her Wilmington Island home and the beaches of Florida and Georgia, especially Tybee Island. She was a longtime member of the Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed volunteering in the church offices and Whitefield United Methodist Church. She was a descendant of the Georgia Salzburgers and a longtime member of the Savannah chapter of professional secretaries International, where she served the organization in several capacities. She retired from the US government in 1987 and was a valued employee of the William Lattimore Company for 17 years. Her career also included employment with the Chatham County judicial system and First Federal Savings and Loan. She was implemental in the development of Wilmington Island Townhomes and served on the board for most of her years there. Mrs. Rogers leaves behind nieces Julia Waldhauer, Nancy Waldhour, and Victoria Cleveland, grand nieces Branwen (David) White, Eugenia (Blake) Cleveland Dismukes, grand nephew Alan Moller, great grand nieces Emilee White and Claire Dismukes, and great-grand nephew Jonathan White. There will be a visitation for family and friends at Funeral Solutions in Cocoa on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at 5PM. Also there will be a service honoring her life on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah, GA.
