Margaret Ann Sweeney

Margaret Ann Sweeney, 93, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter on February 21, 2019. Margaret was born on March 15, 1925 in Minneapolis, MN, to Lynn & Ethel Whitson of Sauk Centre MN where she grew up in a household that included 2 brothers, 2 great-aunts and her grandmother. She began playing piano at a young age and loved playing for all of the churches in Sauk Centre. She attended the Minneapolis School of Music and her love of music and piano continued throughout her lifetime. She married her childhood sweetheart, Anthony (Tony) B. Wiener in 1946 after he returned from WWII. They had three children and moved across the county several times for Tony’s work in the defense industry until settling down in California. After the early death of Tony, she married Henry A. Sweeney in 1965. She gave private piano lessons until she was 65. She loved her students and became like a grandmother them. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Tony, son Merritt, and husband Henry. She is survived by her son, David L. Wiener and daughter-in-law, Rosanne of California and her daughter Meg and son-in-law Robert Johnson of Merritt Island. She also is survived by 7 grandchildren, Rachel, Ashley, Alexandra, Kelly (Steven), David, Deana and Todd (Shelly), along with 11 great-grandchildren (Josue, Riley, Kyle, Colby, Colton, Tristan, Nixon, Aiden, Jaxon, Kaia and Chandler). A life-long member of her “Beloved Episcopal Church” she will be laid to rest next to Henry at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church Cemetery on Merritt Island.
