Mr. Thomas Lossner
December 31, 1951 - September 24, 2019
Thomas (Tom) Arnold Lossner, beloved husband to Paula, father to Shannon, Katie and Jacki, brother to Steve, Mark and Alan, and dear friend to so many, went to be with our Lord and Savior on September 24th, 2019 at 8:30 pm, in Celebration FL, at the age of 67, surrounded by family and friends who loved him dearly. Tom was born in Worland, Wyoming on December 31, 1951. He spent his early childhood years in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Ulm, Germany, and Rocky Ford, Colorado before moving to Hopkinsville, Kentucky in 1961. There he and his brothers wreaked havoc on the town, building rockets and explosives in the garage, exploring caves and other mischief with their best buddy Dave Warren. Tom joined the United States Airforce in 1971 and was stationed in Arkansas for 2 ½ years working on the Hound Dog Missile Program. After receiving his Honorable Discharge, he earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Murray State University in 1976 and Masters in Mechanical Engineering in 1985 in order to pursue his childhood dream of working with the US Space Program. In October 1985 Tom got the opportunity to fulfill that dream, spending the rest of his career at the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral Florida working on the Shuttle program that he so loved. In October 1982 while stocking shelves in isle 5 of Kroger in Murray Kentucky, Tom first saw the love of his life, Paula Cavitt, and heard God tell him that she was the one he was to marry. He did just that on January 1, 1983 and they spent the rest of his happy 36 years together. Tom had three daughters who thought the world of him, Shannon Lossner Zimmerman and husband Rob of Louisville KY, Katie Lossner of Louisville KY, and Jacqueline Lossner Spafford, and husband Brad of Suffolk Virginia, teaching them how to love the Lord and others. He also had 5 grandchildren which he was so proud of, Olivia, Owen and Anna Zimmerman, and Chloe and Brook Spafford. In 1985, Tom and Paula began attending Park Ave Baptist church where they were nurtured and matured in their faith in Christ through the teachings of Peter Lord and their beloved Life Group. In 1999, they helped plant Coastal Community Church in Port St. John, Florida, where Tom served as elder, leader and greeter for his remaining years. Tom loved his church family so dearly, that in his retirement he went on staff as Business Finance manager so he could serve his community and church full time. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Alta Lossner and his sister, Jenny Lossner Morin and brothers in Christ, Frank Clayton and Jim Betherum. Tom was loved by so many family and friends and will be missed dearly. The tapestry of life that God has woven together through various people, to create a beautiful picture is not finished, as the lives of those touched by Tom will continue through service to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Coastal Community Church in Port St. John, Florida. Lunch will follow and live-streaming will be available for friends and family who cannot attend. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to passion and heart of Tom, which is the future of Coastal Community Church through the building fund
