Mrs. Mary Jo Pybus

Mary Jo Pybus Lucarelli was born in Louisville, Kentucky May 23, 1941. Her parents were David and Corrine Hill. Her mother Corrine was the 2nd oldest of 10 children. Mary Jo grew up with lots of family, aunts, uncles, grandparents and cousins. She was the oldest of her parents 3 children, brother Doug and sister Lisa. She met her first husband Ken while working at a grocery store in high school. Mary Jo and Ken got married in Louisville and started their family. Their first born child Robin was born in Kentucky, along with their 2nd daughter Rebecca(Becky). Mary Jo followed her parents to South Florida, residing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The family later grew with two boys Brian, and Jonathan (Jon). Mary Jo became an active member of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church and became a Pre-School teacher (Westminster Academy). Mary Jo later went back to school, completing her studies to become a physical therapy assistant. She worked for many years at John Knox Village in the rehab department. She loved helping her patients improve their health and made life long friendships with co-workers, including Connie Poole. Mary Jo met her second husband Mario Lucarelli in Pompano Beach. They were married 28 years until Mario’s passing in 2018. Mario’s three children Rose Johnson (Trent), Kristina Lucarelli and Marc Lucarelli became a part of her life along with the grandchildren. Mary Jo loved spending time with friends. She loved talking with Marge Jager, neighbors Eleanor and the Joseph’s. She loved going for walks especially on the beach. She was an amazing mother who loved cooking for family and friends. Her specialty was Lebanese cuisine. Mary Jo loved visiting with her family from Kentucky. She loved all her grandchildren Nathan, Ciara, Breeanna, Trevor, Colin, Chase, Willow, Jacob, Summer and Colton. She loved her great grandchildren, Nick, Nora, Haddie, Thadious and Magnus. Mary Jo battled dementia at the end of her life on April 23, 2024. She had amazing care takers. The family is very grateful to her angels Pasquale and Michelle who cared for her at the Monarch in Coconut Creek. Mary Jo will be missed and is survived by children Robin Jewel, WVa, Becky and Bill James West Boca, Brian and Megan Stuart and Jon and Rachael in Fort Lauderdale. Her brother Doug and Barb Hill Land O’ Lakes, FL and Lisa and Cary Troxel Cocoa, FL. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to Westminster Academy in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. A private interment will be held at Pompano Beach Cemetery.
