Mr. Michael "Mike" Kevin King

Michael "Mike" Kevin King, age 62, of Cocoa Florida passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 11, 2024. Mike was born Augusta, Georgia on September 5, 1962. He graduated from Eau Gallie High School in Melbourne, Florida. In 1986, he began his career at Kennedy Space Center (KSC), as a high voltage electrician. Over the course of his 34 years at KSC, he earned his Journeyman electrician license, among various accolades. During this time, he married his high school sweetheart, Debra (Hestbeck), on July 1, 1995. They enjoyed 29 years of wonderful and fruitful years of marriage before retiring from KSC in 2019. Earning the respect of many through his honesty, grit, and humble nature. Mike and Debra had one child, creating a blended family with Mike's two children. He embraced fatherhood and was very proud of all three of his children and four grandchildren. Restoring his 1950 Chevy truck and 1950 Jeep Willie, building anything imaginable, and teaching everyone around him were his passions. His hands could turn trash into treasures, either for his own adventures or for aiding others. For this reason, many called him MacGyver, in which he'd jokingly reply with, it's because I'm awesome." Despite the endless hobbie projects or his never ceasing helping hand, he craved long rides on his Harley Davidson with his cherished friends, attending car shows and at times putting his own antique on display. Later in life, he often found himself counting down the days from one camping trip to the next with his wife, Debra. Mike's pass time throughout his years we're marked with astonishing family and friends with his ingenious ingenuity, witty dry humor, and always taking pride in his work at KSC along with personal jobs. Above all, needs of his local church were personally provided for to the best of his ability through his devotion to serving others. He was a living demonstration of redemption through Christ, as described in Psalm 32:1; "How blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered!"
