Mr. Richard Gene Fifer

Richard Gene (Dick) Fifer of Port St. John, Fl, passed away on 10/30/2025 at 82 years old after several years battle with Alzheimer’s and then cancers. Born in Vicksburg, Michigan, to Elmer Fifer and Leopoldene (Birdie) Hotovy. He graduated from high school in Centerville, Michigan. He learned the printing trade when he began working at Upjohn/Parmacia in Portage, Michigan. Married to Margaret Hildebrand on June 15, 1963. They lived in Climax, Michigan, traveling to Hobe Sound, Florida, until 2020, and then moved to Port St John Florida. He retired at the age of 55 from Pharmacia. Richard (Dick) is survived by his wife Margaret Fifer, daughter Pamela Kurtz, and son-in-law Robert Kurtz. He leaves behind six grandchildren, granddaughter Amber Stovall and husband Corey Stovall, grandson Tony Smigielski and wife Molly Smigielski stepson Robbie Kurtz and wife Stacy Kurtz, stepdaughter Jessica Kurtz, and 4 great grandchildren, Chrissy Arthur, Lena Smigielski Hayden Kurtz, and Bahia Kurtz. Predeceased in death by his brother, Paul Fifer, and his parents, Elmer and Birdie Fifer. Dick, along with his wife, enjoyed many years of worship traveling to many camp meetings in Athens, Michigan, Vicksburg, Michigan, Dayton, Ohio, and Hobe Sound, Florida. He attended God’s Missionary Bible Church in Kissimmee, FL. Dad was so glad of his legacy from his father, Elmer, who, after he gave his heart to the Lord, never hesitated to share the gospel with anyone who would listen, and his mother was a woman of faith, and Dick followed in their footsteps, seeking the Lord for what he needed in life. His greatest wish was to see Jesus as soon as he could. His father and brother joined him on the journey of motorcycle riding and hunting over the years. It was his time with the boys. Dick enjoyed the cruises that took him and Margaret to Cancun, Alaska, and then their trip to the Holy Land. Dick loved to spend time in the word. He left a legacy to the young folks as he taught Sunday school. Dick loved to create new projects. He was always looking for the next thing to tinker on. He enjoyed music and loved to take Margaret to the Gospel Barn. Any concert or special group was high on his list. He enjoyed listening to Margaret play the organ. He enjoyed studying new ideas on his computer. One of Dicks favorite songs was "Because He Lives" by The Gaithers. "Those who touch our lives stay in our hearts forever. The love in our family flows strong and deep, leaving us memories to treasure and keep. We loved you for your whole life, and we will remember you for the rest of ours. Death leaves a heartache nothing can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal." We will be having a memorial in Florida, TBA. Please contact Pamela if you would like to attend.
